Ten things to do in January

Sunday 30th December 2012

Happy new year everyone

January is traditionally the month of enforced frugality after the excesses of Christmas but you do not need to hibernate completely.
Here is a list of fun things to do that will lift the spirits but not break the bank.

1 Have a bracing walk along a beach near you is a good way to get you back into walking after the Christmas break.

2. Decide to get fitter - Annual membership of a gym is an expensive but many gyms allow you to pay per session or have a couple of taster sessions. Get in the habit of going swimming or to the gym with a friend each week more likely to go if you are with someone else.
Start to get walking fit even if you only have time to walk for 20 minutes in an evening or lunch time it all helps.

3. Eat more healthily - Throw away the remains of the Christmas goodies and replace with healthy alternatives look on rosemary Conley?s web site for her free recipe of the week.

4. Buy some white emulsion paint and spruce up the walls cheap way to cheer up the house

5. Have a clear out send to the charity shop or sell unwanted items on e bay great way to get in a bit of cash.

6. Get your walking wardrobe sorted for the walking season check out the sales or look on line for some second hand bargains. Ideal time to waterproof your walking coat.

7. Give the house a spring clean, give the windows and paintwork a wash and tidy the garden.

8. Join a walking club near you a local Ramblers group etc. http://www.ramblers.org.uk/

9. Have a home pamper evening. Do whatever it takes to relax hot bath and pedicure. Get some friends round for a pyjama movie evening.
